If you wanted to join our Health Informatics Twitter Chat on November 29th, 2016 but couldn’t, you’re in luck. We’ve compiled a list of the top questions received during the chat along with our answers.
The chat served as an informal Q&A for prospective students to ask questions about the program, curriculum and the admissions process prior to the December 5th spring term admission deadline.
Q. Do I need letters of recommendation? Do I need to take the GRE to apply?
A. No, the GRE is not needed. The application requires a list of references only, not letters of recommendation.
Q. Do you accept international students?
A. We accept students for all over the world, but classes are held in English.
Q. I am not sure I am able to commit to a master’s degree…what are my options?
A. We also offer a Graduate Certificate in Health Informatics that is only 18 credits, and also fully online.
Q. If I start in the certificate program, but later decide I want to switch to the master’s can I transfer the courses in?
A. Great question. Yes certificate course work can be rolled into the master’s program.
Q. How many hours a week will I need to spend studying for each course?
A. You’ll typically need to spend about 15-20 hours a week studying per course.
Q. I’m a working parent. Are the classes live or can I take them anytime?
A. You can do the coursework anytime during the week. Get those kids to bed and curl up with a hearty discussion board.
Q. Do I have to come to class on campus?
A. Campus visits are never necessary. The program is completed fully online.
Q. Is there an internship component to the program? Does UNE help us with this process?
A. Yes. You will need to complete a 120 hour practicum. We have resources to help with this. It’s a great way to find a job in the field.
Q. What if I want to apply, but I don’t have a 3.0?
A. Reach out to our Enrollment team at firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss your individual situation – we’ll do our best to work with you!
Q. If I decide to go for the graduate certificate program instead of the master’s, how long will it take me to finish?
A. If you’re taking courses back to back, the graduate certificate program can be completed in just one year.
Q. How many times a year do you accept applications? Will I have to wait until fall term?
A. We enroll three times per year in spring, summer and fall! But apply any time with Rolling Admissions.
