UNE Online offers many great degrees and certificate programs; however, did you know that we also offer individual science prerequisite courses? If you’d like to learn more about Science Prerequisites for Health Professions Courses, read on.
From Microbiology to General Chemistry, these courses can be taken anywhere in the world! Students who enroll in our science prerequisite courses are typically students who wish to enter a health professions program but need one or two courses to fill a gap in their transcript.
Have we caught your attention? Keep reading to learn more!
Our science prerequisite courses have a 16-week completion time and they have no due dates, meaning students can complete earlier if desired!
Another great aspect about Science Prerequisites for Health Professions courses is the fact that we have start dates every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month. Yes, that is right; two start dates every month! Frequent start dates allow students plenty of options when signing up for our courses, and are great for students who need to receive official transcripts by a specific date to meet application deadlines.
These science prerequisite courses are not part of a degree, certificate, or any matriculated program. With that said, there is NO application! No copies of transcripts will need to be sent over before you take the course! Anyone can register! Sounds simple right? It is!
We offer a simple registration portal where you will select the course(s) you want to take, check to make sure you meet any prerequisite requirements for that course, pay in full, and create your account. Once those four simple steps have been completed, you will have then successfully registered. It is that easy!
Once you have successfully registered, you will receive a “welcome letter” within 24 to 48 hours. This welcome letter will provide information on next steps to prepare for your online course. On your chosen start date, you will be able to access your course online. You can then get working on the course and complete it at your preferred pace, within the 16-week timeframe!
Science prerequisite costs can be found here. These tuition and fee costs do not include the cost of textbooks or lab materials needed for your course(s).
Payment needs to be paid in full at the time of registration. Since these courses are non-degree seeking, we are unfortunately not able to accept any type of financial aid or payment plan at this time. However, students who are active military may be eligible to use their Tuition Assistance (TA) or GI Bill® Benefits (VA).
The University of New England is regionally accredited through the New England Commission on Higher Education (NECHE, formerly known as the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education for NEASC).
While our courses are WIDELY accepted throughout programs across the country, we highly recommend reaching out to the program/institution of interest to confirm that a specific course is accepted.
Once you complete the course, you will receive your official grade. You can then contact our Registrar’s office to obtain official copies of transcripts. Transcripts typically take three to five business days to be processed and mailed.
The UNE Online website has full details about each course offered. The website provides a full description of all courses, and includes each course syllabus. We currently offer 21 science prerequisite courses with more planned for the future.
