The Inner Working of the Maine Legislature:  How to Influence Public Policies for Children, Youth, and Education.

Every day, teachers, social workers, and other professionals are confronted with laws, policies, and regulations that impact their practice and work.  The purpose of this session is to learn more about how the Maine Legislature makes decisions and implements laws and policies. Participants will gain a better understanding of how the Maine Legislature operates and how an idea/bill becomes law. Participants will learn about current policy issues related to children, youth, and education. Participants will learn the role members of the public play in the legislative process.
