The ABCs of Learning Outdoors
Presenter:
Meg Edstrom Jones
Director of Educational Partnerships and The Teacher Institute at the Ecology School
Join Meg Edstrom Jones from The Ecology School on a place-based learning journey. Participants should come prepared to spend some time outside, engage with other group members, use observation skills, ask questions, and flex your social emotional skills in a non-traditional learning environment. Meg will lead participants through the ins-and-outs of taking students and clients outside the school walls, beginning with building the practice of place-based and outdoor learning. She will also model how to transition between the indoor and outdoor environment, how to provide structure to time spent outside, and how to meet students where they're at with their comfort outdoors. Participants can look forward to games, hands-on activities, time spent outside on UNE's beautiful campus, and plenty of time for Q&A.
