The University of New England Online College of Professional Studies is offering a fully online, 4-week Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) Training Certificate program that covers a comprehensive understanding of domestic violence in intimate relationships, including its dynamics, context, and perpetrators. Participants of this online training program will earn a certificate of completion, as well as 1.2 CEUs (continuing education credits).
Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) is a pervasive and complex issue affecting individuals and families across diverse cultural, social, and economic backgrounds. This course is tailored for social workers, aspiring social workers, counselors, therapists, and other professionals interested in gaining expertise in addressing and preventing intimate partner violence and domestic abuse. Social workers and advocates in many other fields play a crucial role in addressing and preventing IPV, providing support to survivors, and facilitating interventions to break the cycle of abuse. This course is designed to equip all advocates with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to effectively recognize, respond to, and prevent intimate partner violence.
UNE Online’s training program reviews Certified Batterer Intervention programs and interventions that are not recommended when coercive control or violence is present. The training addresses ethical issues that social workers and advocates may face when dealing with intimate partner violence, and specifically covers IPV in the LGBTQ+ community. The training covers societal barriers and discriminatory legislation that hinder help-seeking, and provide safety planning and guidelines for social workers working with LGBTQ+ individuals. Additionally, the training reviews the psychological and physical impact of abuse on survivors and examines the experiences of survivors from diverse populations.
