
Dr. Roger Poitras is an adjunct faculty member for UNE’s MBA Healthcare Management concentration, bringing over 40 years of healthcare experience spanning clinical, operational, financial, and executive leadership roles. He holds a Doctorate in Health Administration from the Medical University of South Carolina, along with master’s degrees in health services management, business administration, and human resources. He currently serves as CEO of InterMed, a leading integrated medical group in Southern Maine. His background includes executive leadership across acute care, ambulatory services, home health, long-term care, and more within public, nonprofit, and private healthcare systems.
At InterMed, Dr. Poitras has led key initiatives such as implementing Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to improve efficiency and foster staff engagement, expanding digital health solutions to enhance patient access, and leveraging predictive analytics to anticipate patient needs, risk-stratify populations, and reduce the total cost of care.
His decision to join UNE reflects a deep passion for teaching and mentoring the next generation of healthcare leaders, helping students develop the skills to drive meaningful change across the healthcare landscape. He teaches Leadership and Strategy in Healthcare, a course that prepares students to navigate the complex, evolving healthcare landscape with vision, adaptability, and strategic insight.
