About the Conference

UNE’s College of Professional Studies and its partner Educate Maine are pleased to host the 1st Annual Social Services and Education Professionals Symposium, made possible through the generous support of our sponsor Unum.

This is a full-day conference for professionals focused on the social and emotional well-being of young people.  We look forward to hosting 150 social workers, educators, school counselors, and all others working in this space from across Maine and the region.

The Symposium offers attendees interactive workshops led by industry professionals with depth of expertise in topics ranging from compassion fatigue, to creating safe spaces, to professional self-care – to name just a few. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with the speakers and colleagues throughout the day and will leave with a breadth of activities, strategies, and actions they’ll be able to use in their professional settings.

For questions regarding the conference, please email ceonline@une.edu.

CONFERENCE PARTNERS

After several years of working in the nonprofit sector of New York City, assisting and directing children’s programs for inner city youth, Ayesha chose to enhance her knowledge in the field of Psychology to make a more significant impact on the lives of the children and families she supported.

Although she began her master's level studies in mental health counseling, her passion for mental health support in schools shifted her focus to research and evaluation; which led to her certification as a School Psychologist in 2010.

Ayesha has since utilized the comprehensive school psychologist skillset to serve schools, community agencies, and families in a wide range of demographic settings throughout the North East Region, to ensure that students' needs are supported, and educators have the agency to support them.”
