The University of New England’s Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Studies (BAIS) is a fully online degree completion program designed for adults who have earned some college credit and are ready to finish their bachelor’s degree. Built for working professionals and adult learners balancing education with career and life commitments, the program offers a flexible path to completion while maintaining academic rigor and quality.
This 120-credit program emphasizes integrated learning and gives students the opportunity to shape their education around their professional and personal goals. The curriculum combines the Nor’easter Core, a distinctive Integrated Studies major, an optional concentration in Global Health, and elective options that support career advancement, graduate study, and broad professional versatility. The program also recognizes prior learning and professional experience, helping students move efficiently toward degree completion.
Students in the BAIS program can also work with advisors to explore select graduate-level coursework that may later apply to UNE graduate degrees such as the Master of Public Health or Master of Science in Climate Change Leadership. For motivated students, this creates an opportunity to begin graduate study early while also saving time and money.
Offered fully online with multiple start dates, the BAIS is designed to meet adult learners where they are and help them move forward with confidence.
Program Highlights:
The BAIS program offers more than degree completion. It offers a flexible, student-centered path for adults seeking career growth, academic progress, and preparation for what comes next.
Global Health
Students in the BAIS program may choose to complete an optional concentration in Global Health. This 15-credit concentration provides opportunities to explore public and planetary health challenges through contemporary, relevant coursework. It is designed to complement the integrated studies curriculum while helping students align their degree with professional interests and future goals.
Courses in the Global Health concentration include topics such as sustainability, resilience, climate crisis impacts and solutions, environmental public health, and One Health. For students interested in health, the environment, and complex global issues, this concentration offers a meaningful way to deepen their studies.
UNE also plans to explore additional concentration options in the future based on student demand and workforce trends.
At UNE, the BAIS program is built to support adult learners who want a degree that reflects both their past experiences and their future goals. The program combines flexibility, academic support, and a broad, career-relevant curriculum to create a path that works for students returning to college.

UNE’s Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Studies is intended for adults who have earned college credit but have not yet completed a degree. The program is designed for students who are looking for a flexible online option that supports career advancement, degree completion, and possible graduate study.
Because students enter with different academic histories, each learner will receive a personalized degree evaluation and plan of study. Working with a program advisor, students will develop an academic path that takes into account transfer credit, prior learning assessment, prerequisites, and individual goals.
The Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Studies is a 120-credit degree completion program built around four key components:
The curriculum is designed to provide a broad-based, integrated educational experience that promotes professional versatility and real-world application. Students build foundational skills through general education coursework, then deepen their learning through the integrated major and, if chosen, the Global Health concentration.
Students may also choose from a wide range of electives in areas such as health, sciences, public health, psychology, sociology, politics, and the environment.
Because adult learners move through programs at different paces, course sequencing is individualized. Some students may move more quickly through the degree, while others may take one course at a time and progress more gradually. The capstone seminar serves as the culminating experience, asking students to apply their learning to a real-world challenge through an integrated approach to problem-solving.
