    Dr. Golshan Madraki is the program director for UNE’s MBA Supply Chain Management concentration, bringing over a decade of experience in operations and supply chain research and education. She holds a Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Ohio University and previously served as an Associate Professor of Engineering and Management in the Reh School of Business and the Associate Director of the Honors Program at Clarkson University. Her research applies algorithms, graph theory, and data analytics to real-world challenges in supply chains, manufacturing, and social networks, with work published in leading journals such as Computers & Operations Research and International Journal of Production Research.
    Dr. Madraki’s expertise shapes a curriculum with hands-on, experiential learning. The program equips students to lead supply chains from end to end by leveraging AI tools alongside critical thinking and data-informed decision-making. Students engage in team projects, case studies, and collaborations with regional companies to tackle real-world supply chain problems. The program prepares graduates to lead with both strategic insight and technical expertise to meet rising industry demand across sectors like manufacturing, healthcare, and food production.

    Dr. Aimee Vlachos is a professor for UNE’s MBA Sport Leadership and Management concentration, bringing over 20 years of experience in sport management, outdoor recreation, and experiential learning. She holds an Ed.D. in Sport Management with a focus on marketing, along with an M.S. in Recreation Management and a B.A. in Business.

In Maine, she launched the state’s first all-girl surf school, empowering over 1,000 individuals through inclusive, community-based recreation.
    At UNE, Dr. Vlachos leads courses like Sports Sales & Marketing, where students explore brand building, fan engagement, and revenue strategy through hands-on projects, case studies, and industry speakers. The MBA concentration blends practical learning with leadership development, preparing graduates to succeed in professional leagues, college athletics, and the growing world of sports tech.

He holds a Doctorate in Health Administration from the Medical University of South Carolina, along with master’s degrees in health services management, business administration, and human resources. He currently serves as CEO of InterMed, a leading integrated medical group in Southern Maine. His background includes executive leadership across acute care, ambulatory services, home health, long-term care, and more within public, nonprofit, and private healthcare systems.
    At InterMed, Dr. Poitras has led key initiatives such as implementing Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to improve efficiency and foster staff engagement, expanding digital health solutions to enhance patient access, and leveraging predictive analytics to anticipate patient needs, risk-stratify populations, and reduce the total cost of care.
    His decision to join UNE reflects a deep passion for teaching and mentoring the next generation of healthcare leaders, helping students develop the skills to drive meaningful change across the healthcare landscape. He teaches Leadership and Strategy in Healthcare, a course that prepares students to navigate the complex, evolving healthcare landscape with vision, adaptability, and strategic insight.

    MBA Admissions

    At UNE, we take a holistic approach to reviewing applications. Our MBA Program draws applicants from diverse backgrounds and a rich variety of academic experiences. Successful students have natural perseverance, an inclination to take on new challenges and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities. We review applicants in a comprehensive manner, taking into consideration their previous academic coursework and application materials.

    Admission Requirements:

    • Degree: A bachelor’s degree or above from a regionally accredited institution or its equivalent. See International Admissions for details regarding evaluation of international degrees for grade and degree equivalency.
    • GPA: Applications are reviewed holistically as a determination of academic readiness. The admissions committee values previous academic performance as indicated on transcripts and considers it as part of the review process.
      • Minimum  of 2.5 GPA for those with 5+ years of professional work experience.
      • Minimum 2.8 GPA for those with less than 5+ years of work experience.

      MBA Curriculum

      UNE’s MBA program is designed to equip graduates with the skills to manage across industries. To earn your MBA degree at UNE, you will complete a minimum of 30 online credit hours, including 24 credit hours dedicated to eight core courses that provide a strong foundation in business and leadership. The following are just some of the exciting MBA courses that UNE offers:

      Managerial Economics provides students with the opportunity to use economic theory to help make business decisions. The course will focus on how issues such as pricing, competition, incentives and biases impact how companies choose to allocate limited resources. Students will utilize economic theory to develop business strategies related to both external stakeholders (e.g., competitors, customers and suppliers) as well as internal operations, such as capital allocation.

      This course focuses on financial management and making financial decisions. You will learn about key topics such as the time value of money, how to value bonds and stocks, ratio analysis, financing choices, capital budgeting, cost of capital, capital structure, risk and return, dividend policy, operating and financial leverage, and working capital management. You will explore essential ideas about how to create an optimal capital budget and manage short- and long-term financing choices.

      Marketing Innovation is a course designed to introduce and provide tactical content in marketing for managers and future managers. It takes a very digital, innovation, and technology-driven approach to marketing, and graduates will learn how to research, design, build and implement marketing strategies and tactics for a variety of industries and contexts. As consumer behaviors evolve and product consumption becomes increasingly digital in nature, students will examine how marketing can be used to drive innovation, digital transformation, data-driven marketing segmentation, and product positioning. The course emphasizes practical applications, case studies, and strategic problem-solving.

      This course equips students with data-driven decision-making skills through statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and data visualization. Emphasizing real-world applications, students learn to interpret data, generate strategic insights, and apply analytics to optimize business performance.

      This course equips students with the essential accounting knowledge and analytical tools needed to make informed decisions in business settings. The course focuses on understanding financial and managerial accounting concepts and their application in decision-making processes. Students will learn how to interpret financial statements, evaluate performance metrics, and utilize ratio analysis to make strategic business decisions. Emphasis will be placed on cost behavior, ethics and performance measurement. The course is designed to develop practical skills for assessing financial risks, maximizing profits, and achieving organizational goals through effective accounting practices.

      This course examines the strategic role of operations and supply chains in business success. Students will explore process optimization, logistics, inventory management, and supplier relationships. Emphasizing data-driven decision-making and sustainability, the course equips students with skills to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and create value across the supply chain.

      This course examines the principles of organizational behavior and their impact on driving effective change within businesses. Students will explore key topics such as leadership, motivation, corporate culture, team dynamics, and decision-making in the context of organizational transformation. Through case studies and real-world applications, the course equips students with the skills to lead change initiatives, foster engagement, and cultivate a culture of innovation and adaptability.

        The MBA program meets NECHE requirements and is part of the double accreditation efforts that the College of Business is pursuing. Currently, the College has three undergraduate majors – Business Administration, Outdoor Business Innovation,  and Sport Leadership and Management that are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), with all our other programs in the candidacy phase for ACBSP accreditation. We have recently become members of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and will pursue this accreditation for all our programs.

          Admissions and Transfer Credits

          Upon acceptance, students entering into the MBA with a concentration (36-credit program) may apply to transfer up to two, 3-credit courses (maximum six semester credits). Transfer credit requests will be reviewed by the admissions committee for approval.

          • Minimum GPA for those with 5+ years of professional work experience: 2.5
          • Minimum GPA for those with less than 5+ years of work experience: 2.8

          You may begin the application process prior to completing your undergraduate degree, however, you must receive a conferred bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution prior to the start date of your choice.
