Grief and Loss Training


Workshop Description:

No matter your profession, if you support, guide, and/or teach others, grief and loss will be part of your work. In this fully asynchronous training, we will discuss grief basics including types of grief, the experience of grief across youth development, factors that impact the grief experience, and strategies to support those experiencing grief and loss. Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on how grief and loss impacts the work they do and those they support.

Objectives:

  • Identify various types of grief and grief responses in youth
  • Consider how culture, religion, spirituality, and stigma impact grief
  • Discover aspects of resilience and recognize ways to foster resilience
  • Identify and discuss how grief and loss impact the way you do and those you support
  • Examine strategies of support for those experiencing grief and loss
  • Learn about resources available to support those experiencing grief and loss

Expectations:

This training includes two one-hour modules consisting of:

  • Recorded lecture
  • Readings and other materials
  • Self-Assessments

Modules:

  • Module 1 – Grief Basics and Theories
  • Module 2 – Guiding Principles, Grief through Youth Development and Support

Training Completion:

This course is not graded with a letter or number grade, however, in order to receive the certificate of completion, you must participate in and complete all of the required assignments prior to the closing of the course.
