Supervised Experiential Learning (SEL)

Preceptor variety and SEL hour requirements

How many hours will I need to secure for admission? Is there a minimum number of hours required for each SEL setting? How many different preceptors are students expected to secure the 400 hours from?

SEL vs. Dietetic Internship

Does UNE only offer Supervised Experiential Learning (SEL)? Or a Dietetic Internship (DI) as well? What is the difference between SEL and DI?

Finding SEL sites

How long will it take to find SEL preceptors? What settings will my SEL experiences take place in?

Location of SEL sites

Do my SEL sites need to take place in my geographical location? Will I need to relocate to complete my SEL hours as part of the Dietetics Focus?

Scheduling SEL hours

Am I required to schedule my SEL sites to align with coursework? For example, completing Food Service SEL hours during Food Service coursework.

Completing SEL hours

Will I complete my SEL experiences simultaneously with program coursework? How will my coursework be scheduled?

Completing prerequisite courses

Do I need to complete the three (3) required prerequisite courses before applying? Am I able to begin my application if enrolled in a prerequisite course?

Transfer Credits

Does UNE accept transfer credits, besides the prerequisite courses offered at UNE? How can I submit possible transfer credits?

Prerequisite Course Availability

How often are the three (3) prerequisite courses offered at UNE? At what times am I able to enroll in the prerequisite courses?

Undergraduate prerequisite course

Am I able to submit prerequisites completed during my undergraduate learning? What are the requirements for completed credits I would like to transfer?

Industry Certifications as credit

Will UNE accept credit from certifications earned in other industries or fields? What fields will count as your credit for admission?

International Admissions

As an international student, will UNE accept a Bachelor’s in Nutrition & Dietetics? Will the Master’s program qualify me to earn the RDN license? Am I able to register for the CDR exam outside of the U.S.?
